Supporting families with children receiving medical care is at the heart of what we do at RonaldMcDonald House Atlanta.
For dads like Jeremy Vasquez, having a safe, supportive place to stay while his son received treatment made all the difference.
“Many people may not fully understand the challenges of watching your child struggle with things that come easily to others,” said Jeremy. “At Ronald McDonald House Atlanta, our children are surrounded by compassionate people and a culture of genuine care and support.”
Alaric Vasquez McHugh, a three‑year‑old boy from Pooler, Georgia, recently completed a feeding therapy treatment program in Atlanta. With their hometown more than 200 miles away, Ronald McDonald House Atlanta became the family’s home-away-from-home for over 60 nights during Alaric’s medical care.
“Ronald McDonald House Atlanta allowed us to stay focused on our son’s needs while still giving him the chance to enjoy being a child,” Jeremy shared. “The specialized dining rooms were especially helpful, providing a quiet, dedicated space where he could work one-on-one with his doctors and focus on his progress.”
Even during difficult seasons, Jeremy found ways to create meaningful memories with his children around the House. Some of their favorite activities included:
“Every detail is thoughtfully designed to support families during a difficult time,” Jeremy said. “Having such a caring and dedicated staff made a world of difference. From maintaining a clean environment to providing meals and engaging activities, their kindness and support lifted a tremendous weight off our shoulders. Words cannot fully express how grateful we are.”
At Ronald McDonald House Atlanta, we are honored to support fathers and father figures who remain steadfast while their children receive critical medical treatment. Their strength, love, and resilience inspire us every day.
