Ronald McDonald House Atlanta has unveiled its new 126,000-square-foot building next to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Arthur M. Blank Hospital in North Druid Hills.

The 110-room facility, which is the first Ronald McDonald House in the Southeast to be co-located on a hospital campus, expands the organization’s capacity by 75%.

The new house comes as the nonprofit experiences a rising demand for lodging and support from families of pediatric patients.

Since 2022, family stays have increased 69%, the nonprofit reports. In 2024, the organization served more than 3,600 families, saving them nearly $10 million in lodging, transportation and food costs —up more than 17% from 2023. It also provided nearly 27,000 nights of rest, an increase of more than 1,600 nights over the previous year.

“The opening of our new House marks a significant milestone in our efforts to establish a ‘home away from home’ for even more families across the Southeast and beyond that travel to Atlanta for critical pediatric care,” said Tracey Atwater, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Atlanta. “Providing a facility that is steps away from the hospital offers our families the comfort and convenience they need to focus on what matters most — their child’s healing.”

Key amenities include 18 dedicated transplant suites, multiple dining areas, a private dining room in partnership with the Marcus Autism Center, a five-story indoor playscape, a community gathering floor, an interactive discovery garden and more.
