New 110-room Ronald McDonald House Atlanta opens in North Druid Hills

This is the Southeast's first Ronald McDonald House to be co-located on a hospital campus.

ATLANTA — Ronald McDonald House Atlanta organization celebrated the opening of its new 126,000-square-foot building near Children’s Healthcare to better serve the families of sick kids.

The organization has been serving families in the state’s capital for more than 46 years, providing quality health care, housing, food and more, so they can focus their attention on helping their child through their sickness or injury.

Located next to the Arthur M. Blank Hospital, the North Druid Hills is the Southeast’s first Ronald McDonald House to be co-located on a hospital campus. It expands the capacity by 75%, enabling the organization to address the urgent need for Ronald McDonald House Atlanta services.

In 2024, the organization stated it served more than 3,600 families, saving them nearly $10 million in lodging, transportation, and food costs. According to the organization, this is a more than 17% increase from 2023.

The 110-room House supports the increasing number of families who travel to the metro area for life-saving medical treatment for their sick or injured little one.

“The opening of our new House marks a significant milestone in our efforts to establish a ‘home away from home’ for even more families across the Southeast and beyond that travel to Atlanta for critical pediatric care,” said Tracey Atwater, President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Atlanta in a release. “Providing a facility that is steps away from the hospital offers our families the comfort and convenience they need to focus on what matters most – their child’s healing.”

The House also includes the following amenities:

  • 18 dedicated transplate suites
  • Multiple dining areas
  • Private dining room in partnership with the Marcus Autism Center
  • Fice-story indoor playscape
  • Community gathering floor
  • Interactive discovery garden
